Closure of Ilkeston Branch – online & Derby branch remains open

Dear Member

It is with regret we announce the closure of the Ilkeston branch, the last session being on Friday 25th September.

A decision like this is not taken lightly as we do recognise the fact that some people use us for more than just accessing our services, it’s someone to talk to when you’ve not seen anyone all week. If anyone needs any help with this, please let us know.

The decision has arisen following a recent request for a rental increase at the premises and on reviewing the usage of the branch, it was felt that the ongoing reducing footfall didn’t justify the increased costs. Many people now access us online and also taking into account the fact we have recently launched three new schemes, these will also drastically reduce the need to visit the branch further. These include:

  1. E-signature – sign and return your loan agreement all by email – no longer having to drop it off in branch.
  2. Post Office ‘Payout Now’ cash scheme – where all future cash transactions can be requested with us online, by email or by phone, we will send you a barcode and using this your cash can be accessed via your nearest post office. This enables us to go completely cashless and for members who live anywhere in Derbyshire or surrounding areas to access their cash locally on any working day of the week (please check the opening hours of your local post office). We feel this provides a better service for ‘all’ of our members.
  3. Open banking- giving us permission to access your bank statement online – emailing and posting bank statements is still available.

We anticipate that these new projects will decimate any remaining footfall, however, we will assist all vulnerable members to access the new schemes and if you know of anyone who particularly needs help, please let us know.

We remain open online at www.dcbank.org.uk and at our Derby branch where we can be found at 38 Corn Market, Derby, DE1 2DG (please check our website for opening hours).

Any queries, or if you feel you may need any assistance, or details of any buddy service, please feel free to contact us on mailto: info@dcbank.org.uk or 01332 348144.

Kind regards
