Save on Bus Travel – Just by Being a Member!

Great news – Members can now access discounts through the new Travel Derbyshire Discount Scheme! This offer is all about making everyday travel more affordable. Whether it’s getting to work, heading into town, or visiting family, you can now travel for less with Arriva and trentbarton.

This is all part of a pilot running until 31st March 2026, supported by Travel Derbyshire, Derbyshire County Council, and government funding through the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).

The scheme, previously available only to businesses for their employees, now includes Community Bank members using Arriva and Trent Barton bus services.  Passengers can save up to 20% on bus season tickets, helping to make everyday travel more affordable.

You will need to be a Member of Derbyshire Community Bank

How does it work?

Under this scheme:

  • Bus operators offer discounted season tickets
  • Derbyshire County Council matches that discount via BSIP funding
  • Eligible members benefit from significant savings on their daily commute or regular travel

Phil Cole from Derbyshire Community Bank said:

“We’re proud to be part of this important initiative that puts people first and makes public transport more affordable and accessible across Derbyshire. For many of our members, buses are a vital lifeline – helping them stay connected to work, education and family.

“Being able to spread the cost of a season ticket will make a real difference, helping households manage their budgets and ease financial pressure.

“At Derbyshire Community Bank, we’re rooted in the local community and committed to improving people’s lives. This partnership with Travel Derbyshire, Arriva, and trentbarton shows what’s possible when we work together – delivering practical support that truly benefits those who need it most.”

Councillor Charlotte Hill, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Potholes, Highways and Transport, welcomed the extension of the scheme.

She said:

“I’m pleased that we are able to extend this discount scheme to members of Derbyshire Community Bank,” said Councillor Hill. “Providing cheaper fares for people to get to work or college by using this discount scheme is important in these challenging financial times, and we will do all we can to help people save money.”
