From 6 April 2026, new Child Benefit rates will come into effect for the 2026/27 tax year. Child Benefit is an important source of support for families, helping with everyday costs such as food, clothing, school essentials and activities.
Here’s what households across Derbyshire need to know.
According to official government figures, the weekly Child Benefit rates for 2026/27 are:
£27.05 per week for your eldest or only child
£17.90 per week for each additional child
Child Benefit is usually paid every four weeks, so your payments would look like this:
| Number of children | Weekly total | Per 4 weeks |
|---|---|---|
| 1 child | £27.05 | £108.20 |
| 2 children | £44.95 | £179.80 |
| 3 children | £62.85 | £251.40 |
| 4 children | £80.75 | £323.00 |
| 5 children | £98.65 | £394.60 |
| 6 children | £116.55 | £466.20 |
| 7 children | £134.45 | £537.80 |
These rates apply from 6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027.
