Supporting Our Members During Mental Health Awareness Week

This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, taking place from 11–17 May 2026, and at Derbyshire Community Bank we want to show our support for all members of our community.

Mental health can affect anyone at any time, regardless of age or circumstance. We also understand how closely connected money and mental wellbeing can be. Financial worries, rising living costs, unexpected life events, or changes in personal circumstances can all place pressure on our mental health and wellbeing.

At the same time, experiencing mental health challenges can make managing finances feel even more difficult or overwhelming.

As a community-focused credit union, we believe supporting our members means more than just providing financial services. It means being understanding, approachable, and encouraging people to seek support when they need it.

Money and Mental Wellbeing

Financial stress can impact many areas of everyday life, including sleep, confidence, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Sometimes simply worrying about bills, debt, or keeping up with everyday costs can become overwhelming.

These situations can happen to anyone, and it’s important that people know they do not have to face these challenges alone.

At Derbyshire Community Bank, we encourage anyone who may be struggling financially or emotionally to reach out for support. Having open conversations and asking for help can often be the first positive step forward.

Supporting One Another

Mental Health Awareness Week is also an opportunity to check in with those around us. A friend, family member, neighbour, or colleague may be dealing with challenges that are not always visible.

Sometimes a simple conversation, listening ear, or small act of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

By supporting each other and encouraging open conversations around mental health, we can help create a stronger and more understanding community for everyone.

Support Is Available

If you or someone you know needs support, help is available locally and nationally:

This Mental Health Awareness Week, let’s continue supporting one another and reminding people that help is available.
