We recently had a really positive conversation with the Money and Pensions Service about financial wellbeing across Derbyshire and the role credit unions can play in supporting local people.
It was a great opportunity to talk about the work already happening through Money Guiders, while also looking at what more can be done.
A big part of the conversation focused on savings and workplace savings. At Derbyshire Community Bank, we want to help more people get into the habit of saving regularly, whether that is a small amount each month or saving directly from their pay through our Salary Saver scheme.
Credit unions are about much more than lending. Encouraging savings, building financial resilience and helping people feel more confident about their money are all important parts of what we do.
The conversation also comes at a great time as we look ahead to Talk Money Week, taking place from 2–6 November 2026.
Talk Money Week is an opportunity to encourage more open conversations about money and help people find the information and support available to them.
We’ll be getting involved throughout the week and sharing more about savings, financial wellbeing and the different ways Derbyshire Community Bank can support people across our communities.
