Work for us

Want to learn new skills, make new friends and do something really important?

Then work for your local community bank.

Whether you can spare an hour a week or more, there are many ways to get involved.

An important role of the bank is to offer volunteering opportunities, giving local people new skills and abilities and helping them into paid employment.  There are many different levels available to those who want to volunteer for the bank and these include:

  • staffing cash collection points (Erewash).
  • staffing advice points (various locations in Derbyshire).
  • distributing leaflets.
  • promoting the bank locally.
  • use of existing skills for marketing, fundraising, office administration etc.
  • supporting savings activities in schools.
  • become involved in the running of the bank at operational, board or committee level.  The board meets once a month, on the the third Monday at 5 pm and the meeting usually lasts around two hours.  Board reports are sent out the week prior to the meeting.

In return we offer:

  • full training.
  • reimbursement of travel expenses.
  • new skills and knowledge to add to CV.
  • possible access to development opportunities.
  • the opportunity to meet new people, experience new opportunities and improve your confidence.

Richard worked for us for seven months up to March 2015 when he successfully got a job.  He said of his experience ‘it has been a pleasure and a privilege to help out such amazing people these last 7 months.  I thank you all for your patience, support and advice on jobs and life.

My time here has not been wasted as I have gained confidence within myself and my abilities due to helping you and being with such a group of genuine lovely people.’
