At Derbyshire Community Bank, our purpose has always been rooted in people which is supporting financial wellbeing, strengthening communities, and ensuring no one is left without access to fair and affordable financial services.

When people come to us, what they need goes beyond Savings or Loans. They may need guidance, local support services, or simply someone who can point them in the right direction. That’s why we’ve been actively building stronger relationships across our region so we can respond better, faster, and more meaningfully.

Turning Conversations into Collaboration

Recently, we had the opportunity to attend a Rotary Club of Nottingham networking event that perfectly reflected the power of collaboration in action.

This wasn’t just about attending an event. It was about listening, learning, and connecting with others who share a commitment to improving lives across the East Midlands.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear we were surrounded by people and organisations who care deeply about their communities. This is something that strongly aligns with our values as a member-owned, not-for-profit credit union.

A Shared Vision for the East Midlands

The evening featured insights from Claire Ward, Mayor of the East Midlands, who outlined a compelling vision for the region’s future.

What stood out most to us was the emphasis on inclusion — ensuring growth isn’t just measured in numbers, but in real improvements to people’s lives.

Why This Matters to Us

Everything discussed during the event connects directly to our mission.

Financial inclusion plays a crucial role in:

  • Supporting local opportunity
  • Improving household stability
  • Enabling people to fully participate in their communities

Looking Ahead

We’re excited to continue building partnerships like this, strengthening our signposting work, and playing our part in shaping a more inclusive future for Derbyshire and the wider East Midlands.
