As families across Derbyshire prepare for the transition to secondary school, Derbyshire County Council has published guidance designed to help parents and carers access support with the cost of school uniforms and other essential items.
The guidance brings together a range of resources and organisations that can help families manage school-related expenses, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to education. Schools are encouraged to keep uniforms affordable by limiting branded items and making second-hand uniform options available wherever possible.
We’re particularly proud to see Derbyshire Community Bank featured as part of the council’s guidance on affordable credit. The council highlights community banks as a safe and responsible alternative to high-cost borrowing, helping residents access affordable loans while encouraging regular savings habits.
You can sign up to the Money Matters newsletter to receive information about financial support, debt management and benefits that you may be entitled to.
Money Matters NewsletterThe council also references our school uniform sales guide, which helps families find savings on school uniforms from major retailers and supermarkets ahead of the new academic year.
School EssentialsThis recognition reflects the growing partnership between Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Community Bank, as we both continue to work together to improve financial wellbeing and ensure local families can access the support they need.
Growing Our PartnershipWhether through affordable borrowing, savings opportunities, benefit advice or community support services, there are a wide range of options available to help make the transition to secondary school more affordable.
We encourage families to explore the council’s full guidance and reach out if they’d like to learn more about the affordable financial support available through Derbyshire Community Bank.
